In 2000, Cornelius enlisted in the United States Navy the day after the USS Cole 17. He was deployed during both Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his two decades of service to the country, he made education a priority, earning multiple graduate degrees. While serving on active duty and attending graduate school in 2006, he became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Incorporated. In 2019, after his service to the nation was complete, he opened Jones Counseling & Consulting, LLC a private practice in Jacksonville, FL. As an advocate for social change, he was quoted as saying, "it was time to stop complaining and start campaigning." In 2022, he made good on his commitment to impact change and ran for the Florida House of Representatives during the 2022 general election. As a first-time candidate he managed to gain over 18,000 votes. Since 2022, he has served as an advisor for other candidates seeking public office.

Over a four-year span from August 2020 - February 2024, six out of his seven books became bestsellers, with three of them becoming #1 bestsellers. This extraordinary streak began on August 13, 2020, when his book "Growing As a Couple" was ranked #89 on Amazon's Top 100 Bestselling list. A few short months later, on November 28, 2020, his book "The Power of Marketing You: The Psychology of using Self Confidence" ranked #28 on Amazon's Top 100 Bestsellers list. On June 21, 2021, his book "Leading Change: Breakdown of problems, policies, and plan for political change' ranked #3 in Amazon's Hot New Releases as a Bestseller. On January 4, 2022, his book "Quote Me" became his first #1 New Release as a bestseller. During the same year on November 19, 2022, only 10 days after his campaign ended, his book.
​"Run for Something" became his second #1 New Release. On February 9, 2024, he released his latest book "War on Black: America's Dark History that Can't be Erased." It quickly became a success, making it his third #1 New Release.

He combines his years of clinical counseling, psychology, organizational leadership, and business experience to train on effective leadership strategies.
